Fading Lights: Narcissus Lux

Overall Vision:

Fading Light: Narcissus Lux welcomes you to the illuminating world of Eros! This game offers fluid gameplay mechanics and a narrative experience unlike any other – follow Ika as he descends towards the darkness that consumed his world; a world that was once teeming with life. 

We want the players to feel like they are within Eros themselves – through a mixture of vibrant and dreadful environments, we want to show the players how darkness disturbed the peace that was held by the people of Eros for so long and how it pushed Ika to embark on a journey to restore the very life of the world.

As far as gameplay mechanics, the movement system will be the bread and butter of the game – we envision a fluid movement system that can seamlessly transition between multiple movement states (walking, running, hovering, and flying) and give players the opportunity to chain combos that lead to these transitions.

Controls:

Walking

• WASD: Horizontal movement (ground), Transition to hover (midair), Transition to gliding (midair + hold shift)
• Space: Jump
• Shift:  Sprint (hold), Transition to gliding (midair)

Hovering

• WASD: Horizontal movement 
• Space: Transition to walking when in midair
• Shift: Transition to gliding when in midair

Gliding

• WASD:
  • W/S: tilt down/up
  • A/D: turn left/right
• Space: Transition to walking when in midair
• Shift (hold): Boost gliding

Mouse

• Moving the camera horizontally and vertically
• Right-click: dash

Known major bugs:

• The player sometimes is unable to walk or jump when a moving platform is in a vertical motion. Simply wait for the platform to stop to move freely if stuck.
• The hover movement needs to be adjusted as the player can hover for a long period. This will change in the future.
• Player can phase through the ground at a particular area involving a moving platform and a lake.
• The UI buttons do not accurately state what a key does. For example, shift is set to none when walking but player can hold shift to sprint.
